AC1234 Machines

The introduction of HFO-1234yf is a very significant development in automotive air conditioning. The new gas has been introduced due to EU legislation passed that will mean a reduction in the global warming potential (GWP) of air conditioning systems in the automotive sector.

All major vehicle manufacturers in the EU have agreed to use this gas and will require new equipment to service the new systems. For more information on HFO-1234yf click link:

 Autoclimate; Robinair SPX solution

The first wave of vehicles containing HFO-1234yf are due for launch in quarter one of 2012. Autoclimate, the UK’s leading automotive air conditioning equipment supplier and exclusive distributor for SPX in the UK, are offering both the AC1234-7 and AC1234-8. More equipment is due to launch mid-2012. Both refrigerant management stations have been developed in conjunction with vehicle manufacturers and meet stringent SAE standards.

AC1234-8

The AC1234-8 is the flagship model of the range; it has been endorsed or approved by the VW group, Subaru, Opel, Chevrolet and Ford. Through independent testing by the highly regarded TUV Rheinland the AC1234-8 has achieved approval by the well recognised VDA.

The machine has the same internal workings and software as the AC1234-7 but in addition the AC1234-8 has a built in refrigerant identifier. The refrigerant identifier built into the AC1234-8 unit meets the VDA specification. At a command from the machine, the identifier will receive a sample of the refrigerant from the system and analyze it, giving a pass or fail signal. If the fail signal is given, the unit will prevent itself from recovering any more refrigerant from the vehicle.

AC1234-7

To date, the AC1234-7 has received a number of endorsements or approvals from leading manufacturers; these include Subaru, Opel, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Kia, Jaguar, Land Rover and Ford.

The machine is fully automatic and compatible with both standard combustion and electric vehicles (hybrids). The RMS has a unique deep recovery system – achieving 99% recovery. It is designed to be completely safe, and will only operate after having successfully carried out a thorough self check.
